I always return from vacations invigorated. Inspired, I hit the office like a productivity Tasmanian Devil; amazed at what I accomplish and how great I feel. I’m so clear on how beneficial rest and recreation time is….yet I do a terrible job of following this principle on the average days. Now I happen to have my home base in the fittest county of the fittest state in the US. It also happens to be a Great Outdoors paradise with mountain biking, hiking, stand-up paddleboarding, river rafting, skiing – all accessible 3 minutes from my front door. So yeah I do get out. When I do I am rewarded with that same rejuvenation I seek. Why then do I punish myself with long computer days with no breaks? Why then do I sit staring at the Smartphone at 8pm? Why do I eat lunch at my desk?! There is the fact that I’m so passionate about not only my work but also those who’ve entrusted us with such important responsibilities that I want to be there for everyone, all the time helping. There is the fact that I simply love what I do. In the small business world, the work-life balance is always tricky to achieve and I’m working hard to find it daily. I really, really like the days that I do….
